經文：「祂雖殺我，然而我還要信祂。」（伯13:15）「因為我知道我所信的是誰。」（提後1:12） 人生如渡洋海，不免遭遇風浪。一位年長的航海家說：「當浪高如山，風疾如火時，惟一的辦法，就是將船完全停下，讓它一直留在原處。」 基督徒的生命也是如此；有時就像保羅，被風浪逼得甚急…太陽和星辰多日不顯露，又有狂風大浪催逼，得救的指望就都絕了。在這樣的光景中，能作的只一件事：將自己完全停住。 在此時刻，理由不能幫助我們；竭力掙扎不能產生效果；已往的經驗不能帶來啟示；甚至禱告也得不著安慰。只有一個方法，就是將自己安息在一個地方，一直停留在那裡。 只要安息在神的懷抱中，無論面對的是狂風、暴雨、駭浪、怒濤、轟雷、閃電、濃霧、冰山…就是緊緊抓住舵柄--神的信實誓約，並在耶穌基督裡永不止息的愛就好了。--傅勒 Richard Fuller 新譯｜荒漠甘泉讀書會

Scripture: "Though he slay me, yet will I trust him" (Job 13:15)."For I know whom I have believed" (2 Tim. 1:12). "In fierce storms," said an old seaman, "we must do one thing; there is only one way: we must put the ship in a certain position and keep her there." This, Christian, is what you must do. Sometimes, like Paul, you can see neither sun nor stars, and no small tempest lies on you; and then you can do but one thing; there is only one way. Reason cannot help you; past experiences give you no light. Even prayer fetches no consolation. Only a single course is left. You must put your soul in one position and keep it there.
